“Prevention is better than cure” is still the main motto of modern dental medicine, and it is our goal to treat baby teeth, and especially early permanent teeth, in a manner with maximum possible sparing of healthy tooth structure so it can withstand masticatory pressure throughout life.
Frequent visits to the dentist allow early detection of caries, periodontal problems and malocclusion and ultimately enable quicker and easier treatment. Regular checks and removal of tartar, proper brushing and maintaining oral health are the best investment for the future.
When children are concerned, it is extremely important to develop, from the earliest age, a good relationship between the child and the doctor, full of confidence and trust. Once created, the trust is the base for good dental treatment of the child throughout life. In our polyclinic, through play and conversation, we teach the child not to be afraid to come to the dentist and to take proper care of their tiny teeth. The mother and child will be instructed how to properly maintain oral hygiene, acquire the proper habits and protect baby (primary) teeth. We will explain the harmful effects of improper use of bottles and soothers and other bad habits. The protection of baby teeth is of great importance due to the later positioning of permanent teeth because milk teeth, especially the ones in the back, preserve the place for future permanent teeth. The biggest and most common problems occur in case of carious lesions and premature loss of rear primary molars. In their place moves the permanent first molar, which emerges around six years of age, and parents often do not notice. When that happens, other permanent teeth, especially the upper canines lack space and emerge on top of other teeth.
