Oral Surgery
Oral surgery is a field of dental medicine that includes various surgical procedures in the patient’s oral cavity.
The most common oral surgery procedures include:
- Tooth extraction due to deep caries, advanced periodontal disease or extensive and persistent periapical inflammatory processes.
- Extraction of wisdom teeth that are partially or entirely impacted in the jaw. In fact, wisdom teeth that are not fully emerged due to poor direction of emergence or lack of space, around the gums, which partially cover them, very often develop inflammation called Pericoronitis. In these cases the most common therapy is wisdom tooth extraction.
- In cases when overgrown folds of mucosa, like the upper lip, prevent the connection of central incisors or when it pulls down the gums, and strips the tooth, it is necessary to perform frenulectomy. This procedure is often done in children, which endure it well, when they’re well prepared.
- Apicotomy is the surgical removal of the tip of the tooth root. In the cases when there is a lasting chronic inflammation around the apex that cannot be cured with conventional therapy, surgical access is used directly to the site of inflammation, the inflammation is cleaned, and the tip of the root is removed.
- The removal of cysts, papilloma, fibroma, mucocele, and other changes in the oral cavity.
- Regenerative pre implant surgery involves all augmentation procedures of hard and soft tissues of the alveolar ridge in order to obtain sufficient or optimal amount of tissue for successful implant-prosthetic rehabilitation.
- Raising the maxillary sinus is also a regenerative pre implant surgery procedure which creates favorable conditions for implant-prosthetic rehabilitation.
